Figure Skating at Bellerive Ice Center
Bellerive Ice Center is home to some of the finest figure skating coaches in Houston. Along with its beautiful ice conditions and plenty of daily Freestyle Sessions, Bellerive (BIC) is best placed for your skater to succeed as a figure skater.
Bellerive Ice Center do not currently offer Learn to Skates Classes.
What is a Freestyle Session?
The term Freestyle Session is used in ice-skating as the name of a private practice session for figure skaters. At Bellerive Ice Center these sessions are sold in 30-minute blocks and are scheduled throughout the day. Freestyle ice is a place where serious training takes place. There are specific rules that skaters must adhere to so that all participants can make the most of their session. Many skaters receive one- on-one private lessons during this time.
Note: Please note that private lesson fees are paid directly to the coach. However, their private lesson fee does not cover the freestyle session fee during the private lesson. (Skaters pays for private lesson + freestyle session fee)
All Skater must register and pay for freestyles before they go on the ice. Please look at the rules regarding Freestyle ice before deciding if you are able to use the session. In particular note that a skaters have to have passed USFS BASIC 6 to practice outside of a private lesson. Also, rental skates are not generally allowed on freestyle sessions.
Playing Music
Bellerive Ice Center use one iPad to play skaters music.
No other devices are allowed to be plugged in or be used via Bluetooth. Regular skaters at Bellerive Ice Center should have their coach upload their program music to the iPad.
Coaches - If you need to upload a new recording to your Box File, do not do this at the rink while you are on a freestyle as this takes time up that another skaters or coach could be using the music. It is not necessary, disruptive and disrespectful to other coaches/skaters using the session.
